Este alfabeto popular del zapoteco del Istmo (Oaxaca, México), se publicó por primera vez en 1956. Actualmente, después de múltiples reimpresiones, se encuentra agotado, y la nueva edición (en preparación) todavía no está lista. Por eso en esta página hemos incluido la primera edición en formato electrónico facsimilar, el cual muestra el texto completo de la edición impresa utilizando imágenes escaneadas de cada página (lamentablemente, sin la posibilidad de hacer búsquedas, lo cual esperamos corregir pronto en la nueva edición).

This popular alphabet of Isthmus Zapotec (Oaxaca, Mexico), was first printed in 1956. Now, after many reprintings, it is again out of print, and a new edition (in preparation) is not yet ready. Thus, we have presented the first edition here in an electronic facsimile edition, which displays the full text of the print edition using scanned images of each page. (This format unfortunately does not enable searching of the text, but we hope to correct this soon in the new edition.)

El zapoteco del Istmo se habla en la región del Istmo de Tehuantepec, en Oaxaca.

La publicación de esta edición en facsímil fue realizada en febrero del 2006 con motivo de la celebración de los 50 años del alfabeto popular del zapoteco del Istmo, bajo los auspicios del INALI.

Isthmus Zapotec is spoken in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, in the state of Oaxaca.

The publication of this facsimile edition coincides with the celebration, in February 2006, under the auspices of INALI, of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the alphabet of Isthmus Zapotec.
