Teaching people to read and write

There are many different instructional programs for teaching reading and writing. Since situations and languages vary, it is not possible to provide you with a predefined model for your instructional program. Instead, you will need to choose and modify a program that fits your situation. Once you have done that, you are ready for the task of teaching people to read and write.

Here are some prerequisites for teaching people to read and write:

• You need to have done preliminary research.

• You need to develop the instructional program.

• Prepare lessons.
• Gather or produce the necessary materials.
• Teach literacy lessons appropriate to the instructional program you have chosen.
• Use activities as needed to develop literacy skills.
• Use teaching aids.
