Scheduling training programs

You must be careful about when you schedule training programs, especially in rural contexts. You will have to consider daily, weekly, and seasonal schedules.

Here are the prerequisites for scheduling training programs:

• You need to have a good program plan before you can develop a training program schedule.

• You need to have funding assured before you go very far in planning a training program schedule.

• Make a complete list of training activities to carry out.
• Use tools such as a village calendar to help in scheduling.
• Work with community leaders to determine the best time to schedule training activities.
• Work with other interested agencies regarding the scheduling of training activities.
• Decide when and where to do the training.
• Prepare the actual schedule for the program or for the time period for which you have funding.
• Share the schedule with community leaders, other agencies, and program personnel; ask for their input.
