Robinson, H. M. 1972. "Visual and auditory modalities related to methods for beginning reading." Reading Research Quarterly. Interest level: specialist.
| Summary | |
|
Studied different reading methods (sight words versus phonics) for children with visual versus auditory abilities. Showed no need to adapt the method to the child's abilities. Believes that tests used to determine these abilities in the children were not adequate. Sight method of reading described does not seem parallel to whole language of today. Visual versus auditory abilities do not seem equivalent to learning styles.
