Rashotte and Torgensen 1985

Reference

Rashotte, Carol A., and Joseph K. Torgensen. 1985. "Repeated reading and reading fluency in learning disabled children." Reading Research Quarterly. Interest level: specialist.

Summary

Results indicate increases in reading speed that result from the repeated reading method depends on the amount of shared words among stories. If subsequent stories have few shared words, repeated reading is no more beneficial to improving speed than an equivalent amount of nonrepetitive reading.

Significant observation of researchers was the positive attitude toward reading that resulted from this technique.
