Arts Consultant Video: Understanding Local Arts
SIL's Ethnomusicology and Arts Group is developing programs to help train Arts Consultants, people who research and catalyze creativity in artistic forms local to minority language communities around the world, to address their spiritual and social needs.
This process includes at least four kinds of activities:
- recognizing local arts,
- understanding them,
- co-creating new and modified forms, and
- the production and distribution of these new creations.
This five-minute video illustrates some of the intense analytical tools that a researcher may use to accomplish the second of these activities, understanding local arts.
